When designing for an organization such as OU Recruitment Services, there are many stakeholders. The easy one is for sure the student, the target stakeholders for students I want to highlight is below:
16-18 years of age, with low single parent income, mid to high testing scores( ACT or SAT)
I think this group would be good to target because the students have tons of potential, however they or the parents need some convincing. Also, the parent and child may need more information on loans and such to make the whole college thing work out well. Although, they have a low income for college, the student is smart and the grades are to show for it. By a student having all these signs, they would be a potential stakeholder for me.
The next stockholder I want to address is the high school counselors. This specific group of people can single-handedly influence students to go to college and specific ones. They have an immense amount of power, influence and knowledge which could help recruiting a ton.
The handouts given to help define stakeholders and their values, needs, habits etc. are beyond helpful. These handouts help to analyze and help to think about the stakeholder in a different way and shed light on some things that help to influence students. Using these handouts can show the influence the stakeholder can have due to race, gender, lifestyle, social class and more. I think being a PR professional you can sometime overlook those details that are dire to creating a great design for the company you are working for. It is beyond important to know WHO’s attention you are trying to grab and influence, therefore you can make the best decision on what to design and what to put into the design. It is ALL about the audience. You can design some beautiful documents and the right audience could not take the bait, because it is for the wrong reasons for them to do what you are asking.
Since I am targeting the high school counselors, I think harping on education and future learning is the way to go! I believe the counselors are in their specific position because they truly want to help and influence the world. I will use the handouts to format my design specifically to them. I also think my stakeholder I picked is a large audience and it can help to influence many students, which is the whole goal.
