MADE FOR CONNECTION

April 2020

Why? One of the hardest questions to answer. Because who really knows why? Who knows the reason why we do things? Not the easy stuff like eat, sleep and breathe… because we all know those are the essentials to live. But what about why do we need connection? Why do we need friends? Why do we try so hard to fit in? We do we need to fit into a group? Why do we long to fit and belong? Why do we want to be a part of a team? Why do we long for connection and love? Why do we need friends? Why do we need a family? What is the real meaning and need for these things is the question I propose. Below I try to answer these questions with explanations about my connections in this crazy, confusing world.

Evy Kara, Evy lynnie, Ev, lulu, one of my best friends from college. My very first roommate. She was the one who helped me truly grow up. Her being the oldest child in her family and me being the youngest one in mine. She taught me more than she will ever know. From making eggs in the kitchen to helping me perfect my Mac and Cheese recipe that just never seems to be the same each time I make it haha. Well, I hope the future contains many more kitchen talks and recipe exchanges. Ev, you are one of a kind and I think I am starting to figure out why our coach put us as roommates that freshman year of college. All I know is, when I have kids you better be ready to move in because geez I have some more learning to do. Teaching and bulletproof thought processes are your forte. Here is to many more years ahead with you and oh yeah can I come to get my teeth cleaned soon?

Karrie Thomas, KT, love bug, and one of my dearest friends. This friendship is not only a teammate friendship or a love for gymnastics bond. But a friend that shares her heart and thoughts with me. She makes me feel connected to someone and to the world. We relate on so many levels more than just the surface level stuff. We both are going through this world to experience life and the up and downs and the heartbreaks and the celebrations. All of it. That's what we share. Karrie and I do life together.

These girls are my absolute best friends in college. I had no idea the feelings of connection I could make. This is what life is all about. Making friends and connection. I still might have no idea why I so badly have the need to connect but all I know is I think I have found some pretty dang amazing girls to connect with. My life is all about this, and I can’t wait to continue to connect with people.
